City by the SeaGeorge, Prince of Wales, came here to escape the strictness of his Father. He so loved it here, that he built the Royal Pavilion - an Indian style fantasy palace set in a Regency Garden. Across from its gardens is the Dome, built as stables for the King's horses. It is now used as a centre for performing arts. There is more to see too, whatever your interests, including Brighton Museum and Art Gallery, the Sealife Centre, Booth Natural History Museum, Preston Manor (an Edwardian experience) and The British Engineerium which has hundreds of models and full size steam engines, motorcycles and early electric motors. To see them in their full glory, with boilers alight, go on the first Sunday of the month and Bank Holiday Mondays. What could be better than, to be on holiday sitting at a beach front café, sipping a glass of wine, while watching the sun set below the Palace Pier. Or alternatively lounging on the deck of a luxury yacht in Brighton Marina. Brighton & Hove is a shoppers paradise. There are numerous top quality big-name stores and Churchill Square Shopping Centre is the perfect place to go. Or, if you prefer smaller individual establishments, then try The Lanes, famous for antiques and designer clothes.
